  The 7th International Children's Festival of Performing Arts  

 

An annual activity held in association with the Ryan International Schools for the fourth successive year ICFPA a five day theatre festival was held at Kamani Auditorium, LTG Auditorium, Shrii Ram Centre, Shriram Bhartiya Kala Kendra Grounds and Abhimanch Auditorium (National school of Drama) from 30th August to 3rd September simultaneously.

Inaugrated by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit the event saw participation of 5000 children from 17 countries such as Cuba, Solvenia, Macedonia,France, South Africa, Brazil, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Zimbabwe- 2 groups, Zambia, Croatia, Poland, Switzerland and India and was an amalgamation of workshops, seminars, and performances which included ballets, one-act plays,street theatre, puppetry, folk dances and many other forms of performing arts.

The theme for this year's festival was "Vasudhaiv Kutumbhkam"- All the world is but one. It was organised with the objective to educate, entertain and bring awareness of issues that concern the world today.

ICFPA hosts children from countries with diverse cultures, giving them an opportunity to experience first-hand the richness of Indian culture in terms of its arts, crafts, people, traditions, cuisine and heritage. By associating with some of India's premier cultural agencies like the Sangeet Natak Akademi and the National School of Drama, ICFPA gives further impetus to a free and dynamic exchange of ideas. The curiosity and the ever-present spirit of inquiry coupled with the eagerness of Indian children to learn more will be evident in ther interaction with children form Africa, France, Poland, Cuba, Croatia, Macedonia etc.
